PROFILE
Shaping the Future through Anesthesiology

Board Certified Anesthesiologist / Fellow of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists (JSA)Associate Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Saitama Medical Center, Saitama Medical University
Born in Tokyo in 1980, I graduated from The Jikei University School of Medicine. As a medical student, I was drawn to neurosurgery; during my internship, I discovered the appeal of anesthesiology.
In 2012, I joined the Department of Obstetric Anesthesiology at Saitama Medical Center, Saitama Medical University. I worked in education and research through the Kawagoe Perinatal Anesthesia Fellowship and began giving talks on obstetric anesthesia in Japan and abroad.
From 2017 to 2020, I was a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto. Alongside obstetric anesthesia, I studied healthcare quality improvement and became the first Japanese participant to complete the Excellence in Quality Improvement Certificate Program (EQUIP).
After returning to Japan, I worked in clinical care, education, and research as an Associate Professor and Chief of Clinical Service in Obstetric Anesthesiology at Saitama Medical Center. I have served as Section Editor for Obstetric Anesthesia at the Journal of Anesthesia and as an editor at JA Clinical Reports. In 2023, I founded Oasis Clinical Partners, Inc. to extend obstetric anesthesia services across Japan.
From 2024 to 2026, I served as a Specialist Officer in the Medical Economics Division, Health Insurance Bureau, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. My work included insurance coverage for medical devices and cost-effectiveness assessment, and I contributed to the 2026 revision of Japan’s medical fee schedule. I returned to clinical practice in September 2026.
I have edited and supervised three books on obstetric anesthesia and labor analgesia, and contributed chapters and translations to other medical textbooks. See books
I want to keep exploring what I have yet to discover.— Open to new connections and change.

EDUCATION
Oasis Clinical Partners Inc.
My practice focuses on labor analgesia and anesthesia for cesarean delivery, supporting the safety of mothers and babies. I have cared for more than 2,000 women receiving labor analgesia and provided anesthesia for more than 1,000 cesarean deliveries. At the heart of this work is a team that can perform well together.
I share that experience beyond a single hospital through lectures, hands-on education, and clinical support from Oasis Clinical Partners, Inc.—bringing knowledge and skills into everyday practice.
Oasis Clinical Partners Inc.I work with local teams to develop sustainable labor analgesia services, taking each facility’s staffing, equipment, and workflow into account.
I have taught more than 100 anesthesiologists in clinical settings, sharing not only techniques but also clinical reasoning and approaches to research.
My conference and seminar talks cover obstetric anesthesia, quality improvement, and lessons from health policy—with ideas that listeners can bring back to their own practice.
RESEARCH

Relief from pain. Being able to move. Holding a baby. I study recovery after childbirth from the patient’s perspective, including collaborative work with Stanford University on measures of postpartum recovery.
My interests extend from obstetric anesthesia to quality improvement, patient safety, postoperative recovery, and cost-effectiveness assessment. I connect questions that arise in clinical practice with research and improvements in how care is delivered.

TECHNOLOGY
LEARN. BUILD. SHARE.
I developed Mazda AI, which answers questions using the obstetric anesthesia literature, and have shared how it works. How can specialized knowledge become easier to use? I am exploring that question with AI, guided by the questions I encounter in clinical practice.
I also use AI in everyday work—from finding papers to writing and sharing ideas—building ways to make professional life more enjoyable.

A daily literature review for clinicians, featuring new research and classic papers. Currently available in Japanese.
If I encourage others to pursue what matters to them, I want to keep taking on new challenges myself.
Trying something new brings new people and new perspectives into view. I want to keep exploring unfamiliar ground and value the connections I make along the way.
